Penn State University

Brief & Results

A project of Penn State University, The National Endowment for the Humanities, Medieval Studies and American History, this award-winning site and first of its kind in terms of content and breadth, when it launched in 2008, explores some of the core medieval technologies that built the American colonies into an industrial powerhouse – milling and iron manufacture. This site offers in-depth articles, short essays, photo archives, videos, comparative timelines, and class projects that all seek to demonstrate the transfer of these technologies to colonial America.
